Toyota has launched the new Innova Crysta in our country on May 13. The carmaker had opened the booking lines for this car before it was launched and since then it has been experiencing an overwhelming response from the consumers due to the new avatar of this much-acclaimed MPV, the Innova.
At present, the waiting period for the new Innova Crysta extends from 2 to 4 months. Just when the car industry in India as t about to believe that MPVs are going out of fashion in India, the Toyota Innova Crysta was launched to prove that the notion is not totally true.
Having clocked over 20000 bookings, this new MPV has managed to beat both Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Hyundai Creta in the very first month of sale. The Innova Crysta has recorded 7259 units in May 2016 against Brezza’s 7193 units and Creta’s 7057 units. The fact that the top trim 2.8-litre Automatic Transmission variant of this car has recorded more than half of the bookings indicates that there is a powerful market for automatic people carriers.
The Innova Crysta has overall dimensions of 4,735 mm length, 1,830 mm width, 1,795 mm height, with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm. It is powered by a 2.4 litre and a 2.8-litre diesel engines. While the 2,393cc diesel engine will generate 148bhp and 243Nm of torque, the 2,755cc engine will deliver 172bhp and 360Nm of torque.
The engines come coupled with either a five-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic gearbox. This MPV is available in three new colour options – garnet red, white pearl crystal shine and avant-garde bronze along with the earlier silver, grey and super white.
It has features like SRS Airbags, vehicle stability control (VSC), hill assist control (HSC), antilock braking system (ABS), electronic brake force distribution (EBD) and brake assist (BA). The new Innova’s improved luxury quotient, additional equipment and enhanced styling have together weaved a magic.
The Toyota Innova Crysta which has a price range between INR 13.83 lakh to 20.77 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai) and has no direct rivals to compete with. Thus, with an intelligent range of variants, Toyota has managed to cover a wide base of audience and is also planning to launch a petrol variant for the new Innova as a workaround to the diesel car ban in Delhi NCR.
