You need to get your car a pre-monsoon servicing before setting out on the road in the rains. This is an absolute must. India is a hot and humid country and the summer can be hard for the car as well.

Summer heat can be heavy on the engine which might need looking after. Also, the too bright sunlight can wear off the car paint to a large extent. So make sure you have all that under check before you expose the car to the corrosive action of the rain.

2. Check for tyre treads
First of all, it is important to be informed about tyre treads. Tyre treads are basically rubbers on the tyre circumference that is responsible for making contact with the road. It has to be deep enough, lying within a range of 3mm to 4mm.

If it is not this much deep then a think of water may form under the tyres and that can cause the tyres to lose their grip on the road. This can result in skidding and thus major accidents in the rain. So make sure you make your car tyres ready to face the water clogged roads in heavy traffic zones and not accumulate enough water to skid.

3. Check the brakes
The brakes of the car should be in proper working conditions, they should be well oiled and the brake drums should work just fine. Make sure there is no oil leakage. The brakes should work on a slippery road in the rain to avoid skidding and accidents.

4. Car protection from rust and corrosion
Apply the necessary anti-rust lubricant which will help remove rust from the car surface and also helps in lubrication, dehumidification, cleaning and helps prevent corrosion.

Your car’s metal frame, and not just the car exterior, needs to be saved from corrosion as well. Internal components such as internal moisture can cause rusting or metal cancer. So make sure you keep it as dry as possible.

There can be a number of rusting regions and scratches on the car surface. You need to fix them manually or you can simply cover them up with car wax.

But it is advised that the wax coating should follow the lubricant application. That helps protect the car better and longer. And this will definitely keep your car safe this monsoon. So get your car wax kit ready today.

5. Car paint protection
Not just for covering scratches and rust marks, you can use wax also to protect your classy car paint. India has a hot and humid tropical climate. We have spells of bright sunlight alternating with wet rains. This kind of constant dry and wet phase can cause the car paint to fade and wear off.

You need to protect your car paint from wearing off. This is because cars cost a lot for painting and that should be well insured. So make sure you have enough car waxing coated before you set out for a monsoon drive this year.

6. Checking of headlights and tail lights
As mentioned earlier, monsoons tend to compromise your clear vision of the road and a lot of accidents occur due to this compromised vision. And going on the road with failed headlights and tail lights is like inviting death. So it is better if you can check for the proper functioning of the headlights and tail lights before you get on the roads in monsoon.

7. Keep a vacuum cleaner handy
Rains tend to wet the interiors of your car as well. You might get into the car in wet clothes or completely drenched in the rain. You can avoid those situations really. So what do you do? You keep a car drier or a portable vacuum cleaner just for your cars.

This is to dry your car seats on the go in the rain whenever you feel like it is too wet and damp inside. Anyway, water is not good for leather. Long contact of leather with water can hamper the leather, so it needs regular drying. You can also keep spares of car covers, in case you need to replace them.

8. Get rid of dampness inside
The interior of the car is as important as the exterior. A lot of money goes in making the instrument cluster, designing the leather upholstery and a lot of work and effort goes into making the ride perfectly comfortable for you. All this can be ruined with water clogging inside.

Even if you remove all the water, there still can be a damp smell inside the car that can put off your mood and you do not feel as good anymore. So to get rid of this damp smell during the monsoons, use car perfume regularly.
