There is no doubt that the compact sedan category of cars in India is definitely one of the major contributors leading to the rapid growth of the Indian auto market.
The Hyundai Xcent has made its way into the Indian car market. This car, which is basically a Grand i10 based compact sedan, has managed to create quite a stir in the Indian context mainly because of its fresh new design and a feature rich cabin.
The Xcent looks identical to the Grand i10. However, the Xcent looks quite proportional and has a lot of features packed in to tempt the purchasers. 1GB hard drive and a cooled glove box, and other features like dual front airbags, ABS, engine push-button start, electrically operated rear view mirrors with turn indicators and fog lights are to be found in the Xcent. The Xcent is powered by 1.2 litre Kappa2 petrol engine which produces 81 bhp and 115Nm of peak torque. The 1.1 litre U2 CRDi diesel engine is the new feature about this car and produces 71bhp and 160Nm of torque. This new 3-cylinder engine is a variant of the existing 1.4 litre CRDi engine that drives the i20. The Xcent comes in a 5 speed manual and a 4 speed automatic gearbox which is only available with the petrol variant.
After Honda first launched the Amaze in India, it rapidly became not only one of the best selling models for Honda, but also one of the highest selling cars in the country.
The cabin of the new Honda Amaze is the same as its earlier version and offers one of the most spacious cabins available in this car segment. It has impressive leg room in the front as well as the rear with a whopping boot space of 400 litres. The interiors of the Amaze have been designed in black with aesthetically designed improvements in the quality of plastic that has been used. The chrome accented radiator grille looks bold and upright and the fog light enclosures are bigger. The Honda Amaze is powered by a 1.2 litre iVTEC engine that generates 87bhp and 110Nm of torque. On the other hand, the diesel model is powered by a 1.5 litre engine that generates 98bhp with 200Nm of highest torque. This engine comes with a five speed manual gearbox. The petrol model also comes with five speed automatic transmission system and offers a mileage of 17.8 kmpl.
