Fiat Punto Evo Vs Fiat Punto Pure – Which one you liked?
The Fiat Punto is the Italian car maker’s premium hatchback model that has been on sale in the Indian car market since 2009 with both petrol and diesel variants. The 2014 Punto Evo has got significant external changes as well as all new interiors which is similar to the Linea sedan.
The front fascia of the Punto Evo includes the swept back head lamps, new Fiat logo and bumper with mesh air intake. The side profile of the car remains the same as the previous one which includes the flared wheel arches, tyres and shoulder lines on the doors. This model retains its forward leaning stance as the previous model giving the Punto a sporty look.
The Punto Evo gets a smaller Christmas tree rear lamp setup and this time the design looks quite modern and suits the forward slant look of the car. The interiors come with a revised dashboard as well as a new instrument cluster which now gives the car a more modern look.
The storage spaces inside the car have been improved with the new cubby holes. Some of the standard features include automatic head lights, rain sensing wipers, power windows, rear defogger, remote keyless entry and tail gate opening, rear AC vents and a music system. The face lifted Fiat Punto gets the same engines as the earlier car- there are two petrol engines- a 1.2 litre unit that generates 67bhp/96Nm and a 1.4 litre engine that generates 89bhp/115Nm. The diesel engine is the 1.3 litre Multijet that exists in two states of tune- 75bhp/197Nm and 90bhp/209Nm. All the versions come mated to a five speed manual gearbox. Fiat has brought back its original Punto model after a two year gap and has renamed it as the Punto Pure.
The Punto Pure shares its platform with Fiat’s sedan the Linea which has been on the Indian roads for some time now. The Punto was jointly developed by the legendary designer Giugiaro of Ital Design and Fiat Style Centre. This hatchback model has a very aggressive design with lots of Italian flavours in it, giving it a much better look when compared to most of the other currently found hatches.
The front fascia of the car comes with a prominent chrome accented radiator grille with the red and silver Fiat badge at its centre and the leaf shaped head lights extending to the front fenders. The cabin of the Punto Pure is ergonomically designed with grey and black dual tone interiors and have a neat look with decent finish of the plastics and the Punto logo stitched on the seats and floor mats. The Punto Pure is offered with two engines – the 1.2 litre petrol and the 1.3 litre Multijet diesel which come mated to five speed manual gearbox.
