Decoding the Mahindra e-Verito
After a slew of delays, we have finally got to know about the launch date for our very own car maker Mahindra and Mahindra’s electric sedan, the e-Verito. The Mahindra e-Verito has been launched in the Indian car industry on June 2, this year. Mahindra’s e-Verito had first been showcased as a concept car at the Auto Expo in 2014. Back in 2014, it was then supposed to be in launched within a couple of months. We again happened to see the e-Verito at the car expo this year which was, as per the company officials, the production model. Then it was said that the launch would be in April 2016.
The Mahindra e-Verito is the car maker’s second fully electric car to have launched in India. Mahindra’s e-Verito is a purely electric car – it comes with a 3 phase 72 V electric motor which generates output of 41PS/91Nm.
The company claims that this car can acquire a top speed of 86 kmph. Then comes the very pertinent question about mileage. The Mahindra e-Verito is claimed to run 100 km on a full charge which can be increased slightly with the standard regenerative braking feature. It takes about 8 hours to fully charge, but, Mahindra’s fast charging mode that is available on the D6 model will help to lessen that time to one and a half hours.
This is only possible at a Mahindra Electric Fast Charging Station. There are three trims on offer – D2, D4 and D6. Apart from the electric engine, the Mahindra e-Verito also gets tyres with low rolling resistance and an updated interior. Some of the standard features in e-Verito D4 trim and upwards come with an infotainment system, electric ORVMs, alloy wheels and keyless entry. Another unique feature is ‘REVIVE’, where the engine is able to squeeze out an extra 8 km of range when the power levels are low. During the auto expo, we came to know from a Mahindra official that the starting price of the e-Verito will be from INR 8 lakh.
