5 Things that make the Volkswagen Ameo a good choice
Ameo is the latest offering from the house of the German car maker Volkswagen. Volkswagen Ameo is a compact sedan model that is engineered in German techniques with an Indian heart. This German car maker has entered the compact sedan car market which is currently brimming in India. Here are five points that make the Ameo a bench mark.
Equipments offered – Since the Ameo is practically the latest entrant in the jam packed and highly competitive compact sedan segment, Volkswagen has made sure it has loads to offer to the consumers. The Ameo equipment list includes a flat-bottom steering wheel, top class touch screen infotainment system and automatic climate control. It also gets features like rain sensing wipers and cruise control, which are the first in this segment.
Safety features – The Polo and the Vento have both fared brilliantly in crash tests conducted to ensure their robustness. Thinking on this line, the Ameo should also rank high as one of the safest cars that one can buy under Rs 10 lakh price bracket. The Ameo comes with dual airbags and anti-lock brakes as standard across variants, which is missing on many popular models.
Ride and handling – When we got to drive the Ameo, we liked how its suspension managed to strike a smart balance between the ride quality and the handling of the car. The steering is quite direct too and offers just about enough feedback to steer the car through bends.
Engine – As of now the Ameo is available in a petrol version paired with a manual transmission. But Volkswagen has plans to launch the diesel version of the compact sedan in August. The German automaker has stated that the diesel engine will get the 7 speed dual clutch automatic gearbox as well. Other diesel automatic cars in its segment, such as the Swift Dzire and the Tata Zest come with an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) variant. The DSG on the Volkswagen is more superior, both with respect to refinement and efficiency.
Price – The Volkswagen Ameo has been particularly targeted at the Indian consumers, with an aim to make the most of the government imposed tax benefits of cars that come under the 4 metre length. Volkswagen has launched this compact sedan at an amazing Rs 5.24 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), which is not only very close to the segment topper, the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, but is also more affordable than the Polo hatch back!
