Tata’s all new hatchback model called the Tiago comes with a 1.05 L Revotorq diesel engine that is capable of returning a claimed mileage of 27.28 kmpl. Launched at a price of INR 3.2 lakh to start with, the Tiago rivals against the likes of the Celerio, Beat, Brio, etc. Although the Celerio diesel engine is slightly more fuel efficient, it also comes with a smaller 800 cc mill that offers less power than the Tiago’s 1.05 L engine.
Mahindra KUV100
Mahindra’s micro-SUV, the KUV100 returns an overall claimed fuel efficiency of 25.32 kmpl making it one of the best fuel efficient cars in India. The KUV100 is an unconventional design on large hatchbacks with style inspired by the SUVs and is driven by the mFalcon D75 diesel engine. It comes with a starting price of INR 5.41 lakh.
Renault Kwid
The Kwid is fresh and vivacious and is driven by a 799 cc petrol engine. It offers a claimed mileage of 25.17 kmpl while delivering an output of 53 bhp and 72 Nm of max torque. The Renault Kwid competes against the likes of the Maruti Alto 800, Hyundai Eon and the Datsun Redi-GO and is priced in a range between INR 2.62 – 3.67 lakh.
Datsun Redi-GO
The newly launched Datsun Redi-GO is an entry level hatchback model that is built on the same platform as the Kwid, powered by the same engine and therefore offers equally great mileage. However, it has been designed in a tall boy style with high ground clearance. The Datsun Redi-GO is priced within the range of INR 2.39 – 3.34 lacs and is claimed to offer a mileage of 25.17 kmpl.
